Judging a Rock by it’s Cover?

This glorious rock that I hold in my hand is quite deceiving. I was searching around this pipe in the desert outside of Amarillo and found a beautiful black rock. Once I had excavated the rock I soon realized it wasn’t just a black rock but a rock with more character. I started to wonder if maybe the rock was like this because of the nearby pipe. The area was once a lake that had dried up. Was this caused by being in water, was the pipe an oil line, or is the rock just a rock with many colors? To be honest it didn’t really matter, I still got enjoyment out of it and it was just as gorgeous the whole area around it. You can judge a rock by it’s cover.
