Before we even left on our adventure to Ruscha we arrived at the Pink Cadillac diner in OKC. It was filled to the brim with Route 66 antiques. It was there I found the Howdy Doody doll hanging near my table. Dr. Gress told me it was a creepier version of Mister Rogers neighborhood. Naturally I looked up an episode and watched it. I did not make it 5 minutes through until I had to shut it off. It is crazy how film has changed through the recent decades. I started to think of the show and how it had been displaced by the new general public just as Route 66 and the gas stations had been turned into ancient artifacts of the American culture.
